About

A community reference for Deep Vein Idle, for looking things up without the game open. It is built and maintained by one player, with the developer's support.

Where the numbers come from

One source, read top to bottom: the in-game Codex, exported from the running game at version 1.0.1183 as a plain-text file of301-plus lines. A parser splits it into sections and tables, and a normaliser folds the Codex's per-rarity rows onto one item each — which is what turns1,265 listed rows into the 301 items you see here.

Two things are cross-checked against the game client rather than taken on trust: the numeric item ids, and the icons. Everything else is the Codex's text with nothing added.

How the icons are drawn

The game has no item images. Each icon is a 16×16 grid of characters shipped inside the client, painted with a small palette keyed to the item's material, and emitted as rectangles. This site runs the same grids and the same colour rules, so the picture next to an item name is the one the game draws.

That is checked, not claimed: a validator renders 301 icons and compares them, pixel for pixel, against 529 icons captured from the live page. 514 match exactly and the rest are interface glyphs that are not items.

What it gets wrong

  • It lags the game. The Codex copy here is 1.0.1183; the live game is ahead of it, and a change can ship without the Codex text being rewritten.
  • Silent numbers are absent. If the Codex does not state a value, this site has none to show. Nothing is filled in from guesswork, wiki folklore or a datamined spreadsheet.
  • A few items have no page. 32 ids exist in the client with no Codex entry — mostly pets and the currency. They are listed, and labelled as such, but say nothing more.
