Market & vendor

The market trades with every other player. Buy lists what is for sale and its cheapest price; Sell lists what you have banked and what the best buyer pays; My orders is your resting offers. Choosing an item opens its order book first: For sale and Wanted side by side, every price with how many stand at it, and a Buy or Sell button on every row that trades the amount in the field at that price or better. Selling asks twice, so a stray tap never sells. To rest an order of your own, press + Sell listing or + Buy listing and set your price; it waits until someone meets it, and an amount is limited only by what you can afford and hold. Where nothing has been listed yet, the field opens at twice the vendor price -- listing at the vendor price itself only loses you the sale tax.

Prices go in steps. Under 100 coins, any whole price. From 100 up, prices move in steps of 2, 5 or 10 in the hundreds, 20, 50 or 100 in the thousands, and so on up the scale, so a step is never less than 1% of the price. A resting order fills in parts: a bid for five thousand takes whatever each seller brings until it is full. Fills settle straight to storage and coins. Anything can be cancelled from My orders.

The tax. The seller pays a 3% sale tax on every fill; the listing shows the total and what you get after it. The tax goes to no player. Part of it funds the town buyback (🏛️ in the market window): once a day the town buys the most overstocked plain or uncommon goods listed at no more than one and a half times the vendor price, and destroys them. Its sellers are paid as by any buyer, and the room hears what the town took.

You may keep 10 orders open (up to 40 with the shop). Buying and selling on the market are free from anywhere now; only the vendor needs the counter. What you sell comes from storage, never the bag, and what you buy lands in storage.

Selling starts in storage. Tap anything in Storage and choose Sell: it opens on that item with both ways out of it: the vendor pays its price, or you list at yours.

History. The fourth tab in the market window lists your own fills, newest first: what you bought and sold, how many, at what, to a player or to the vendor, and how long ago. Free from anywhere, sixty legs at a time.

The vendor is the second tab of Storage. It buys anything at the price shown beside it in the Codex -- the floor its worth sits at, for the base item, whatever its rarity or + -- always, and sells a few staples:

A table with no header? Some Codex screens are prose in the game and only look tabular when exported. Where the pipeline could not find a header row it leaves the text above as it came, rather than inventing columns.
